When Will The Dolphins Take Over The AFC East?

The Carvonis Group has watched the Dolphins compete for a long time without anything to show for it. Tom Brady and the Patriots have run the AFC East for over a decade now and we haven’t had the luxury of seeing the Dolphins make a legitimate playoff run. So the only question remaining at The Carvonis Group is, when will we see the Dolphins actually clinch the AFC East?

Well, unfortunately, Tom Brady isn’t going anywhere soon. But, that doesn’t mean the Patriots have all the power. The Patriots locked down a few of their best weapons for the next two to three years but after that who knows what will happen. As long as the Dolphins continue to build off of the core of their roster, they might be able to contend with the Patriots

Jay Ajayi rushed for over 1200 yards last season and is clearly a future star. From someone that no one knew to becoming a fantasy football hero, he’s certainly made a name for himself. If The Dolphins are able to sign him to a long-term contract (assuming no major injuries occur), their run game will certainly be dominant for years to come.

Keep in mind, however, the Dolphins have a legitimate pass game too. Jarvis Landry might be one of the most overlooked wide receivers in the game. His combination of size, speed, and catching ability make him one of the league’s best receivers. He causes problems with defenses which not only opens up the run game but gives him opportunities to make plays. He might be the most important piece to the Dolphin’s winning puzzle.

The biggest problem with that is that Ryan Tannehill may not be the answer. He is a mediocre quarterback at best that doesn’t always make the best decisions. He is athletically gifted but undersells himself with his poor decision making. If the Dolphins can help him break his bad habits or sign a better quarterback, they’ll be a playoff team.

As much as we’d like to think this year is our year, it most likely isn’t. We have a lot of work to do as a team but we’re certainly headed in the right direction. Just remember that even though were not clinching the AFC East yet, The Carvonis Group will always stay loyal to our Dolphins.
